PIAZZA ROMA 8, 47855 GEMMANO RN IT
MONTE GARDO
THE MONTE GARDO
An equally important stop to visit.
Quota 449 on the Gothic Line. This is how Mount Gardo was called during the last World War 74 years ago. And it is precisely on this hill, Golgotha of suffering, that the German Alpini of the 6th and 7th Company faced each other against the 2nd/7th Company of the English Major Mac William.
A hill devoid of plants then, burial ground for the victims and made arid by the bombings.
COMMEMORATION
Every year in September, the Mayor of Gemmano, the senior officers and the people remember and honor the combatants and victims of the war with a public demonstration in which they participate
the civil and military authorities and the fighting and weapon associations, together with numerous school groups from all over the Conca Valley.
The procession moves to the Filippo Mancini park where the crown is deposited at the war memorial. The commemorative interventions of the Mayor of Gemmano Riziero Santi and the authorities follow.
Very suggestive and engaging event that awakens love for the homeland and the community, open to all.
